Dr. Jay W. Granzow, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Granzow received his B.S.E. in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University, where he graduated with honors and a certificate in Engineering Biology, before earning his medical degree from Tulane University in 1997. He graduated medical school in the top 10% of his class and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. During his time at Tulane, he also completed a Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) degree with a focus in Health Systems Management. Dr. Granzow completed two residencies, first in Head and Neck Surgery at USC in Los Angeles and later in Plastic Surgery at the University of Miami in Florida, and is Board Certified both in Plastic Surgery and Head and Neck Surgery.

After finishing his formal training in Plastic Surgery in 2004, he traveled extensively throughout the USA and internationally, spending significant amounts of time with many of the world’s top surgeons in advanced microsurgery and aesthetic surgery. This included fellowships, both in microsurgery and perforator flap breast reconstruction, with Dr. Robert Allen in New Orleans, Louisiana and in advanced aesthetic surgery with Dr. Bryan Mendelson in Melbourne, Australia. Among the other physicians with whom he worked were Dr. Fu-Chan Wei in Taiwan, Dr. Isao Koshima in Japan, and Dr. Philip Blondeel in Belgium.

Dr. Granzow is a popular lecturer and has presented at leading scientific and health meetings on plastic surgery topics such as perforator flap breast reconstruction and aesthetic surgery, including performing a perforator flap breast reconstruction as part of a live surgical demonstration at the international meeting on perforator flaps held in Barcelona, Spain. He also was one of the invited faculties at the international meeting for perforator flap reconstruction in India. Additionally, he has authored numerous articles in recent and upcoming issues of the major peer-reviewed plastic surgery journals.

Dr. Granzow has trained extensively in the most up-to-date DIEP Flap breast reconstruction technique and he is one of fewer than 30 surgeons in the country who routinely performs this elaborate and highly-skilled procedure. He incorporates additional specialized fellowship training in both aesthetic surgery and microvascular surgery to maximize the aesthetic results of both aesthetic and reconstructive procedures. His specialties are in aesthetic/cosmetic surgery of the breast, body and face, rhinoplasty, breast reconstruction and microsurgery.
